Burkina Faso Commission Celebrates Launch Event

Members of the Burkina Faso Commission convened online for the official launch on 22 April, 2022

The Burkina Faso NCDI Poverty Commission officially launched on 22 April 2022.

Prof. Nare Narcisse, Special Advisor at the Burkina Faso Ministry of Health, delivered the opening remarks. The launch event featured a presentation from Prof. Aimee Lubelo, who spoke on behalf of the NCDI Poverty Network Steering Committee and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) NCDI Poverty Commission. Prof. Lubelo shared experiences from the establishment of the DRC Commission. Dr. Emmanuelle Zoure of the NCD Division at the Ministry of Health presented on the structure of the Commission and provided a timeline of its next steps.

The Burkina Faso Commission is made up of 17 members led by its President Dr. Robert Lucien Jean Claude Kargougou of the Ministry of Health. Four Commission members come from the Ministry of Health, one from the World Health Organization, and four from the Centre de recherche en santé de Nouna. Dr. Zoure serves as the coordinator of the Commission.

The Burkina Faso Commission is hosted by Centre de recherche en santé de Nouna, a research organization partnered with National Public Health Institute.
