Sierra Leone Minister of Health and Sanitation, Hon. Prof. Alpha Tejan Wurie, displays the Sierre Leone NCDI Poverty Commission Report at a launch event in Freetown on 26 November 2020.

The Sierra Leone NCDI Poverty Commission report was officially launched by Minister of Health and Sanitation Alpha Tejan Wurie on 26 November 2020. The event at the Hill Valley Hotel in Freetown also featured the release of two other important national NCD documents: Sierra Leone’s NCD Strategic Plan and NCD National Policy.

In his keynote address, Prof. Wurie voiced optimism that the Commission report, the NCD Strategic Plan, and the National Policy document will attract increased attention and resources to strengthening the prevention, care, and treatment of NCDs. The Minister thanked WHO, Partners In Health, the World Bank, and other partners for their support.

Participants in the event included representatives from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, other government ministries, the World Bank, Partners In Health, civil society organizations, media outlets, and several other partners working on issues related to NCDs.
